Here is just a sampling of what the Junior League of Baltimore offers to our our members:
Perform Hands-On Volunteer Work
During 2009-2013, members: taught children about the importance of healthy eating, good nutrition and fitness at our Kids in the Kitchen event; transitioned the Kids in the Kitchen event into a weekly curriculum focusing on healthy lifestyles, helped parents become more involved in their public school and in the academic lives of their children; managed a mentoring program for women trying to get back into the work force; launched a PTA organization at Govans Elementary School; lobbied in Annapolis for Bond Bill funding; wrote, edited and published a newsletter; planned a community Health Fair; organized two, two-day Boutique Sales which benefited league projects; supported the Wise Penny Thrift Shop through working shifts, planning sales/special events and donating merchandise; organized a Holiday Party for disadvantaged youth and much more! If you want to do something with your valuable time in the Baltimore Community, the Junior League can help you to achieve your personal volunteering goals.
Receive Valuable Hands-on Training
Though committee work, educational trainings and hands-on volunteering, members gain valuable skills such as: grant and proposal writing, public relations, fundraising, public policy advocacy, event planning, marketing, advertising, committee management and parliamentary procedure. In your time as a member, you will have the chance to explore different projects, internal administrative roles, fundraising opportunities, leadership opportunities, service on the Board of Directors and more. A large number of League members go onto volunteer on Community Boards and to lead other non profit organizations with the valuable skills learned from their membership in the Junior League of Baltimore.
Belong to an International Network of Passionate Volunteers
The Junior League of Baltimore is part of something even bigger! We are a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., an organization of over 170,000 members in 292 Leagues located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
Because we are a membership organization affiliated with the Association of Junior Leagues International, any member in good standing has the benefit of being able to transfer their membership to another league – a valuable benefit if you will be moving to a new city!
