JUNIOR LEAGUE OF BALTIMORE CELEBRATES GIVING TUESDAY
Junior League of Baltimore joins the Giving Tuesday movement to support leadership training for women
BALTIMORE, MD – NOVEMBER 27, 2018 – The Junior League of Baltimore (JLB) today announced that it will join the thousands of charities participating in Giving Tuesday, a globally recognized day for giving back. The Junior League of Baltimore’s monthly membership meeting will be held on Giving Tuesday, November 27, and include remarks from the League’s three community impact partners, Asylee Women Enterprise (AWE), House of Ruth Maryland (HRM) and the Women’s Housing Coalition (WHC). Members will also be making cards of inspiration and encouragement for asylum seekers being helped by Asylee Women Enterprise and for women who have experienced homelessness being helped by the Women’s Housing Coalition.
Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is the annual global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. This year, Giving Tuesday takes place on November 27th.
“Giving back is important throughout the year, and Giving Tuesday is a perfect opportunity to bring it top-of- mind and support our local Baltimore community and its nonprofits,” said Rachel Dressel, 2018-2019 President of the Junior League of Baltimore. “The JLB is honored to support our fellow community partners, as we continue our efforts in promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of our trained volunteers.”
Junior League of Baltimore members have pledged to raise at least $1,500 on Giving Tuesday. Local residents and businesses can join the Giving Tuesday movement to help support the Junior League of Baltimore and other local nonprofits, including Asylee Women Enterprise (AWE), House of Ruth Maryland (HRM) and the Women’s Housing Coalition (WHC).
