Junior League of Baltimore Accepting New Members
Civically-minded women should look no further to join one of Baltimore’s oldest service organizations

Baltimore, MD (July 24, 2018) – The Junior League of Baltimore (JLB), a women’s leadership development organization, is currently accepting applications for its fall 2018 new member class and is hosting several events this summer where prospective members may attend and learn about the League’s mission, community programs, and the benefits of joining. These events include both meet and greets and informational sessions. The meet and greets are networking events held at various Baltimore- area locations, which offer an opportunity to interact with current JLB members and learn about their experiences in the League. The informational sessions are held at JLB headquarters and provide an overview of the three-month new member process, and details regarding the League’s history and objectives. The JLB welcomes all women from diverse backgrounds and communities who demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, voluntarism – with three-month provisional classes starting twice a year in January and August.

The remaining locations and dates of upcoming events are as follows:

  • New Member Information Session: Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at JLB Headquarters. 6:30-7:30PM
  • New Member Recruitment Event: Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Boathouse Canton. 6-30-8:30PM
  • New Member Information Session: Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at JLB Headquarters. 6:30-7:30PM

Women interested in attending a meet and greet or informational session should register at the JLB website: www.jlbalt.org. The application for membership is also available on the website, and the current deadline for application is August 13, 2018.

“The Junior League of Baltimore provides outstanding opportunities for women to develop their leadership skills allowing them to be highly effective volunteers in the community,” said Rachel Dressel, current Junior League of Baltimore President. “We welcome all women who identify with our Mission and are interested in making a positive impact in the community, to join us at one of our upcoming recruitment events.”

The JLB has been actively involved in the Baltimore community for over 105 years and has established long-term partnerships with three local non-profits as part of their Women Building Women campaign. Through their work with House of Ruth Maryland, Asylee Women Enterprise, and the Women’s Housing Coalition, JLB members are able to effect positive change in the community. Members of JLB are given opportunities to develop critical leadership skills while getting hands-on training and expanding their network both in the Greater Baltimore community and nation-wide.

Attending a recruitment event or information session is strongly encouraged for membership consideration. For more information or to download the application, visit https://www.jlbalt.org/?nd=join or email join@jlbalt.org.
