The Junior League of Baltimore is pleased to announce that Heidi Daniel, President and CEO of Enoch Pratt Free Library, has been selected as the 2022 Woman of Distinction.  This award is given annually to an outstanding community leader who inspires others to serve and lead, while also achieving individual success.  Whether breaking new ground, showing vision and initiative, or serving as a role model, the Woman of Distinction encourages others to become change makers.

Over the past two years Ms. Daniel has led her team through every challenge presented to ensure robust and consistent access to library services for the community.  In a city whose citizens faced extraordinary barriers to access to technology even pre-pandemic, Ms. Daniel forged a path to place Chromebooks and mobile hotspots in the hands of students and provide free drive-up Wi-Fi and online learning and tutoring tools.  Through her leadership the library continued to find ways to serve the community even when doors were closed with sidewalk service and virtual offerings including remote story time.  In addition, Ms. Daniel championed the transition of Enoch Pratt Free Library to be literally free, as the first major urban library system on the East Coast to eliminate fines on overdue books and other materials.

The Junior League of Baltimore extends its gratitude and appreciation to Ms. Daniel for her efforts to provide service and leadership to the Baltimore community.
