As part of Civil Rights Week 2026: From Promise to Power, the Office of Equity and Civil Rights and the Community Relations Commission invite you to Prayers for the City. A multi-faith gathering where Baltimoreans of every background come together to reflect and recommit to this city and its people. This year’s gathering carries special meaning. It marks 70 years since the founding of the Baltimore City Community Relations Commission and the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights. That is seven decades grounded in the belief that justice and spirit are inseparable. Faith leaders from across Baltimore’s religious communities will join together in a coordinated prayer hour.

Special guests include: Rev. Alvin Hathaway, Union Baptist Church, and Beloved Community Services Chief Mark Tayac, The Piscataway Indian Nation Rev. Cassie Nunez, Salem Baltimore United Methodist Church Earl El-Alamin, The Muslim Cultural Center of Baltimore Howard Libit, The Baltimore Jewish Council Reese Khan, The Muslim Society of Baltimore Peter Landeros, The Native American Indian Society Stuart Hudgins, and more!
