BOARD OF DIRECTORS 2008-2009

The 2008-2009 Board of Directors participated in a teambuilding Outward Bound session over
the summer to kick off the League year.

Heidi J. Bowen -- President, 2008-2009
President: Heidi Bowen
Heidi has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 1995. Her 13 years of experience includes service on the Board of Directors as Ways and Means Director, Membership Vice President, and President-Elect. She held leadership positions for the Holiday Pops, Fund Development, Celebrate Style, and Membership committees. Heidi also has community council experience, having served on the Hampden Family Center Health Fair and Done-in-a-Day committees. She is a recent graduate of the LEADERSHIP -Baltimore County, Class of 2008. Heidi resides in Phoenix, Baltimore County.
President-Elect: Stephanie Bartal
Stephanie has been a member of the JLB since 2000. Her 8 years of experience includes service on the Board of Directors as Treasurer and Finance Vice President. She has also held leadership positions for the Celebrate Style, Wise Penny, and Headquarters Building committees. In addition, Stephanie has community volunteer experience with Christopher's Place, Baltimore Homeless Shelter, and Maryland Assembly for School Based Healthcare. Stephanie is a CPA with over 17 years of public accounting experience. She currently works at SC&H Group and specializes in attest services provided to clients in the healthcare, non-profit and small business sectors. She currently resides in the Ruxton neighborhood of Baltimore County.
Community Vice President: Kate Sullivan
Kate joined the Junior League of Montclair-Newark, NJ in 1995. There she volunteered for the Bookbound Literacy program and Designer Showhouse fundraiser. She also has community volunteer experience with Charities House Ministries halfway house. Since transferring her membership to Baltimore in 2005, Kate has volunteered on the Women's Mentoring committee and served in a leadership role as Co-Chair of this committee last year. She currently resides in Lutherville, Baltimore County.
Finance Vice President: Anne Campbell
Anne joined the Junior League of Cincinnati in 2000. There she volunteered on the Membership Appreciation and CanDo committee as well as the Cookbook, Endowment, and Nominating committees. She also held leadership positions as Treasurer of Disbursements and Treasurer on the Board of Directors. Anne transferred to Baltimore in 2007 where she quickly joined the Celebrate '95 committee and served on Fund Development. Anne holds an MBA in Finance and Corporate Strategy from the University of Michigan and is currently on a leave of absence from Procter and Gamble where she is an Associate Director of Finance. She currently resides in the Guilford neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Secretary: Jen Holden
Jen has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 2003. Having completed second placements each year, her 5 years of experience includes service on the Hampden Family Center Health Fair, Community Projects, Celebrate Style, Advisory Future Planning, and Headquarters Building committees. She also held leadership positions as Co-Chair for the Fund Development and Public Relations & Marketing committees. In addition, Jen has community volunteer experience with Friends of WYPR and the Downtown Sailing Center. Jen is the Owner of City Life Property Management and member of a privately held real estate investment firm. She resides in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Communications Vice President: Mary Helfrich
Mary's 14 years of Junior League of Baltimore experience includes service on all Councils as well as the Board of Directors. She volunteered on the Training & Development, Holiday Pops, Membership, Baltimore Baseball League, Nominating & Placement, and Hamden Family Center committees. She held leadership positions for the Membership, Public Affairs, Communiqué, and Fund Development committees. Mary also has community volunteer and Board experience with Baltimore Museum of Art, Caroline Center, Association of Fund-Raising Professionals, Sisters' Academy of Baltimore, and University of Maryland College Park Parents Advisory Committee.
Membership Vice President: Kathleen Gibison
Kathleen has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 2000. Her 8 years of experience includes multi-years of service on both the Membership and the Nominating & Placement committees. She held leadership positions as PR & Marketing Chair for Holiday Pops as well as Co-Chair for Holiday Pops and the Wise Penny. In addition, Kathleen has community volunteer experience with Hampden Family Center, Fuel Fund of Maryland, St Vincent DePaul Society, and the Board of Catholic Community School. Kathleen is a tax and real estate attorney with Continental Intermediary Corporation and she resides in downtown Baltimore City.
Treasurer: Nicole Lederer
Nicole has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 2005. Since joining the league she has focused her volunteer service on the Membership Committee. Last year she served in a leadership role as Co- Chair for the Membership committee. Nicole has prior community volunteer experience with St. Joseph's Hospital. She is a Project Manager for Verizon Business and resides in the Ruxton neighborhood of Baltimore County.
Projects, Advocacy and Research Director: Nicole Westrick
Nicole has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 2003. Her 5 years of experience includes service on the Board of Directors as Membership Vice President. She held leadership positions on the Membership & Training and Education & Training committees. She also served on the Celebrate Style committee. In addition, Nicole has community volunteer and Board experience with Live Baltimore, Friends of Patterson Park, Baltimore Prostitution Task Force, Patterson Park Neighborhood Association, Everyman Theatre, Baltimore Community Foundation and Fluid Movement. Nicole currently works at Johns Hopkins University as the Business Solution Manager for the Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) and lives in the Patterson Park neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Parliamentarian: Ginger Mihalik
Ginger has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 2001. Her 7 years of experience includes service on the Board of Directors as Projects, Advocacy & Research Director. She also held a leadership position as Co- Chair for the Wise Penny and has served on the Education and Celebrate Style committees. In addition, Ginger has community volunteer experience with Baltimore Heritage Quilters Guild and Maryland Orchid Society. She currently resides in the Overleigh neighborhood of Baltimore City.
Sustainer Director: Mia Walsh
Mia has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 1993. Her experience includes service on the Board of Directors and all councils of the organization. She works as a technology instructor at the Immaculate Conception School in Towson and is a resident of Chatterleigh neighborhood of Towson.
Nominating & Placement Chair: Polly Douglass
Polly has been a member of the Junior League of Baltimore since 1995. Her 13 years of experience includes service on the Board of Directors as Ways and Means Co-Director, Parliamentarian, and Controller. She held leadership positions on the Holiday Pops, Membership & Training, and Nominating & Placement committees. She also served on the Wise Penny, American Girls Fashion Show, Done-in-a-Day, Special Events & Training, Membership, and Headquarters Building committees. In addition, Polly has community volunteer service with Goucher College, SPCA and various projects through BGE. Polly is a Supervisor of Planning & Operations at Constellation Energy and resides in the Ruxton neighborhood of Baltimore County.
